How to use this calculator
Calculate GIF frames per second and per-frame delay from total frames and animation duration.
How the calculation works
- Enter total frame count.
- Enter animation duration.
- Review FPS and milliseconds per frame.
Formula
FPS = frames / duration seconds. Frame delay = duration seconds x 1000 / frames.
Example
60 frames over 6 seconds equals 10 FPS and 100 ms per frame.
Understanding your result
Use the output as a practical starting point, then review it before using it in an important workflow.
Assumptions and limitations
- GIF delays are often stored in hundredths of a second, so encoders may round values.
- Very low delays may be clamped by browsers.
