How to use this calculator
Estimate how large an encoded audio file may be before exporting, uploading, or sharing it.
How the calculation works
- Enter duration in minutes and seconds.
- Choose a bitrate in kbps.
- The tool multiplies duration by bitrate and converts bits to bytes.
Formula
File size = duration seconds x bitrate kbps x 1000 / 8.
Example
A 3 minute file at 192 kbps is about 4.3 MB before container overhead.
Understanding your result
Use the output as a practical starting point, then review it before using it in an important workflow.
Assumptions and limitations
- This is an estimate; metadata and container overhead can change the final size.
- No audio file is required and no media library is loaded.
